It appears that there could be two men Hyman Siegler married to women Yetta. Perhaps a
little more clarification is needed, because there are also errors in some of the
information presented.
In the 1920 census in Brooklyn, residing on Chester St. is:
Hyman Siegler age 41 (b. 1879) Galacia immigration year 1892
Yetta Siegler age 37 (b. 1883) Galicia immigration year 1893
Ruth Siegler age 11 (b. 1909) New York
Dora Siegler age 9 (b. 1911) New York
Abraham Siegler age 5 (b.1915) New York
Living in the same building is
Samuel Siegler age 37 (b.1883) Galicia immigration year 1917 (immigration years are not
correct)
Ida Siegler age 35 (b. 1885) Galicia immigration year 1916 (immigration years are not
correct)
Abraham Siegler age 10 (b. 1910) New York
David Siegler age 6 (b. 1914) New York
Irving Siegler age 3 2/12 (b. 1917) New York
Morris Wasserman age 50 (b. 1870) Galicia immigration year 1893
Lena Wasserman age 40 (b. 1880) Galicia immigration 1893
Beckie Wasserman age 21 (b. 1899) New York
In the 1915 State of New York Census, the same three families are living together on
Chester St. with the following exceptions:
Samuel's house hold includes Rachel Siegler, age 75 (b. 1840) Austria
Samuel Siegler and Rachel Siegler indicate that they have been in the US 14 years, making
their year of immigration ca. 1901. Ida's residency is listed as 13 years, which
makes her year of immigration ca. 1902.
Military registrations for Hyman Siegler m. Yetta Siegler indicate a birthdate of 10 Nov
1877/1878. In the WWI draft registration, Hyman lists an address of 685 Neward Ave.
Jersey City NJ. In the WWII registration, the DOB is the same, wife is Yetta Siegler,
address is 22 Blake St., Brooklyn. He lists himself as the CEO of Ida Coat Company in
Manhattan.
Do the children's names from the two census listings match up with your line? Was he
the owner of Ida Coat Company? This Hyman Siegler was alive in 1942, when the WWII draft
registration took place. If the children's names for Hyman and Samuel's families
match with yours, then it appears that their mother immigrated with them in 1893. The
Chester St. Sieglers are all tailors. Given that the immigration years match, it's
possible that the Wassermans are related.
Is this the correct Hyman Siegler family?
