Robert,
Sorry, no Samuel Zieglers listed that were that old. The only Samuel

Hello---
I'm currently living outside the US and don't have an atlas.
In what county is Houtzdale, Pennsylvania?
Does anyone have a Ziegler from this city?
Sections from my family history.......
Albert Bernhard Ziegler, was born in 1850 near Leipzig, Germany, in a town
with a population of about one thousand. The address given is Schkoelen,
Kreis Weissenfels, Regierungs Bezirk, Merseburg Province Saxony,
Koenigreich, Prussia.
Albert Bernhard and his sister Amelia went to Houtzdale, Pennsylvania in
1864, I believe he had an uncle there. He worked in the coal mines for
awhile.
Thanks, Diane

Hello all,
My ZIEGLER ancestor arrived in Australia from Prussian Provinz
Sachsen, in 1859.
(I don't know which German town)
He had a brother who went to and stayed in Tonga, and they very
possibly had other members of family who may have gone to the USA who
may have gone to America.
Does this Tonga/Pacific/Australian connection ring any bells for any
of you Zieglers in the USA ?
Niall in Sydney, Australia

I have received a rather extensive file by e-mail containing vitals on
ZIEGLERs in Franklin County, PA, (1830-1870) many of whom removed to
Ohio, some to Iowa. If this is of interest to you, let me know and I can
do look-ups for you.
The source is the book entitled "Genealogy of John Peter Snyder (1729-1807) "

I just received from Leighanne Zeigler a 50 page book written by Nema
Mentzer, 1981, entitled, "The Mentzer-Zeigler Family: A Story of
Pennsylvania-Germans in Cumberland County".
The earliest ZEIGLER immigrant mentioned was Philip (or George Philip)
who came from Wurttemberg in 1753 and settled in Upper Salford,
Montgomery County, PA. He was born in 1729 and arrived in this country
with his wife and two or three small children. His total family is
thought to include 2 girls and 7 boys. Three of the sons (one named
Philip) are known to have moved to Cumberland County, PA. Immigrant
Philip died in 1801 at the age of 72 and was reportedly buried at the Old
Goshenhoppen (Lutheran) Church in Woxall, Montgomery County.
Cumberland County names include Jesse, Wiiliam, & Albert Zeigler, among
others. There is a reference to Zeigler's Church.
My interest in this book was to determine if there was any connection to
the immigrant Michael Ziegler (1684-1765) of PA line and, perhaps, the
town of Zieglerville. Alas, there is NO connection that I can determine.
This immigrant Philip is too young (b. 1729) to be the third unknown
founding Ziegler brother, Michael and Melchior, being the other two. I
could find no references in the book to Zieglerville, Montgomery County, PA.
I would be would be willing to do look-ups for anyone if any of this is
of interest to you.
Blessings,
Brad Ziegler
Descendant of immigrant Michael Ziegler (1684-1765) of PA.
Hi everyone!
I've been following the Zeigler discussions for awhile and have seen
numerous posts refering to those living in Cumberland County, PA. I'm
researching Zeigler's from this area also. My grandmother was Emma
Catherine Zeigler Dellinger born in Shippensburg, PA. Her father was
Isaac Montgomery Zeigler married Rosa Scheaffer they lived in mostly
Cumberland and Dauphin Counties. Isaac's father was Isaac Zeigler,
married to Sarah Colum (?) they lived in the Orrstown area. I believe
Sarah was from Perry County, but have not been able to find a second
piece of information to back this up.
In Isaac's will his children are listed as Nancy Ellen Weaver, James
Henry Zeigler, Malinda June Zeck, Rosanna Elizabeth Zeigler, Emma Idella
Weaver, Lena Goodella Powell, Lean Loorna Mitchell, and Isaac Montomgery
Zeigler. Isaac's will was written on Sept. 10, 1894 (he died in 1899).
Isaac and Rosa's children are Sarah Bigler, Emma Catherine Dellinger,
Mary E., Nellie M., Beatrice W., John M., and Martha J.
If any of these name ring a bell, please contact me, I'll gladly share
what I have.
Thanx!
Amy
Researching: Dellinger/Dollinger/Doellinger, Zeigler, Scheaffer, Ile,
Stake, Steidler, Waitman, and Dunkle from Cumberland and Franklin
Counties, PA.
I know nothing about the Slothauers but have been slogging around Carlisle
for some time trying to sort out my Zeigler connections. I am from a Henry
Zeigler that lived near Carlisle and apparently for a time in Perry Co, PA.
There were a bunch of Henrys though. If you have any information that may
help I would love to hear from you. Also happy to share whatever looks like
it might be helpful to you. I spend time in Carlisle snooping every now and
again.
My Henry was born 1791 in Dauphin Co, PA and lived most of his life in
Cumberland and Perry Counties. His wife Sophia Frye was buried in Perry Co,
then he moved west to live with his sons in Illinois. Supposedly Henry's
father was also Henry Zeigler married to Barbara.
Let me know if this sounds like it might be related.
