[ZIEGLER-L] Ziegler's Church
by Brad Ziegler
My ancestor Peter ZIEGLER was born in Montgomery County, PA, moved to
Northumberland County, PA, then lived in Perry County, PA.
He was said to have "owned a tract of land next to Ziegler's Church".
Does anyone have knowledge of any "ZIEGLERS Church"?
The only one I have found is in Mifflin Tp. of Cumberland County, PA.
This particular church would seem unlikely as Peter never lived near there.
Blessings,
Brad Ziegler

[ZIEGLER-L] Ziegler's Church
by List user
Hi Brad:
The only Ziegler's Church I know of is located in North Codorus Township
(formerly a part of Codorus Township), York County, PA. The church was
established in 1771 and remains in existence today. It is named after John
Bernhard (Bernard) Ziegler.
If you find out where this other Ziegler's Church is located, please let me
know. I'd be very interested in learning more about this.
Do you know the birth dates, etc. of Peter?

I don't have this book but on page 4 of the book "Ziegler Family Record
Revised" in 1990 compiled by Floyd R. and Kathryn G. Mason he states "My
mother was only 15 years old at the time of the printing of the first
'Ziegler Family Record' by Jesse Ziegler. She and her sisters and brothers
are given. We can now add four more generations."
I haven't read the book in a while but I believe Jesse Ziegler was the father
or grandfather of the compilers mother. The Ziegler's lived in Pennsylvania
The Mason's compiled almost 700 pages on the descendants of Philip Ziegler
and Regina Requel. From page 12: "Philip 1, progenitor of the Ziegler Family
was born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1734 and at the age of twelve in 1746
migrated to America according to records found in a family bible. This is
confirmed by the book 'Pennsylvania German Pioneers' written by Strassburger
and Hinke which shows that Philip Ziegler arrived on the ship 'Ann Galley' on
September 27, 1746. Philip Ziegler married Regina Requel a native of
Wurtenberg, Germany and settled near Rehrersburg, Lancaster County --now
Berks County. To them were born five sons and three daughters, John born
Sept.15, 1758, Anna Barbara born Oct. 29, 1759, Jacob born March 26, 1760,
Regina born Jan. 6, 1762, Philip born Jan. 25, 1764, Paul born May 28, 1765,
Eva born Sept. 29, 1766 and Leonhardt born March 5, 1768. The children were
all born on the homestead farm near Rehrersburg." The farm had been in the
hands of Ziegler descendants for over 200 years, before the farm was sold in
1972 outside of the family.

[ZIEGLER-L] Ziegler Books
by Brad Ziegler
Greetings,
1) Does anyone have the book "Descendants of Christopher Ziegler", by
Walter Warren, 1965?
Is this Christopher the son of immigrant Michael (1684-1765) of
Montgomery County, PA?
2) Does anyone have the book, "The Ziegler Family Record", by Jesse
Ziegler, 1906?
What area of the country is this Ziegler family from? What is the name of
earliest ancestor?
3) I have a copy of the "Peter Ziegler Family Tree", John A.M. Ziegler,
1935, 45 pages
This family settled in York County, PA. Immigrant Nicholas (arrived
1737), son Michael, son Peter. I can do look-ups for anyone interested.
Blessings,
Brad Ziegler
