Eugene E. Ziegenbein
PAYETTE-Eugene Ernest “Ziggy” Ziegenbein, 67, Payette, died July 22, 1994, in an Ontario
hospital. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery, Payette, with
Pastor Arlen Benson of the Assembly of God Church, Payette, officiating. Services are
under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Eugene was born on April 10, 1927 at Niobrara, Neb., a son of Henry and Beulah Ziegenbein.
He moved with his family to Hood River, Ore. at the age of 3 months and then to Idaho in
1935. Gene never met a stranger, was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and
loved everyone in return, particularly his nieces and nephews. Even though Gene was
disabled all his life, he was a hard worker, avid reader and never ceased to enjoy
learning about new things.
Survivors include his parents, Henry and Beulah Ziegenbein of Payette; a brother and
sister-in-law, Bill and Margie Ziegenbein of Caldwell; a sister and brother-in-law, Ramona
and Leo Malone of McCall; a sister, June Knapp of Roseburg, Ore.; four nephews, Dan
Malone, Jim Knapp, Larry Malone and Perry Ziegenbein; three nieces, Vickie Garner, Bonnie
Tennis and Sally Stearns and many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Gene was
preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Johnnie Knapp and a nephew, Darrel Knapp.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the American Cancer
Society, care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P. O. Box 730, Payette, Idaho 83661.
