Patije,
Sorry to have gotten your hopes up. I got the name of Elias Zickefoose from
my great-parents marriage record. He is listed as Addison Snyder's father.
In my research I found many with the name Elias Zickefoose. Most were either
too young, not yet born, or deceased at the time of Barbara's pregnancy to
have been the father. Then I found Elias Zickefoose m Sarah Semmons in 1825.
This might sound crazy but this just occurred to me. Frederick and Mary
(Simmons) Snyder give birth to their first child Barbara Snyder on January 6,
1824 in Pendleton County. Less than a year later Elias Zickefoose marries
Sarah Semmons on December 17, 1825. Elias and Sarah have five children, all
born in Pendleton County. All are born before Barbara gets pregnant.
Frederick and Mary have several other children including, get this, Sarah in
1830, and you guessed it, Elias in 1835. I'm beginning to wonder if some of
these aren't the children of Elias. When Barbara is not yet fourteen, on June
3, 1837, she has a son, Addison Snyder, by Elias Zickefoose. Mostly
speculation but WOW what a story. You can see why I think this is the
correct man to be Addison's father; now if I could just get some proof.
My other Simmons in my data base are mostly those that married descendants of
Addison Snyder.
Randolph Channell (great-granson of Addison) m Maretta Simmons.
Argyle Channell (great-grandson of Addison) m Ruth Simmons.
Almon Simmons m Rose Channell (great-grandaughter of Addison).
Zana Simmons m Donna Arbogast (Addison's grandaughter).
John Simmons m Anna Marie ___________ are the parents of Mary Simmons who we
think is the wife of Frederick (all we have for certain is her name is Mary)
and the mother of Barbara. But from what I can see there must be a
connection between her and Sarah Semmons.
Hope this sheds light on somebody's search. Let me know what you think.
