Clarence L. Zerbe
Clarence L. Zerbe, 79, of Pine Grove, died Saturday evening at Good Samaritan Regional
Medical Center,
Born in Pine Grove, Jan. 11, 1922, he was a son of the late Lester and Bessie Sattizhan
Zerbe.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland,
Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service
Medal, EAME Theatre Service Medal with five Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal.
He had been employed at Alcoa for 30 years as a laborer and was a member of the Alcoa
Retirees and Alcoa 25-Year Club. He was also employed as a bus driver/mechanic for 20
years with Newhurst Bus Co., Pine Grove.
He was a member of Jacob's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, its council, and Pine Grove
Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen; a granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Arvilla L. Berger; three daughters,
Rosemary Ferster, Ooltewah, Tenn., and Anita Fidler, and Terry Richardson, both of Pine
Grove; a brother, Earl, Rehrersburg; a sister, Claire Smith, Pottsville; five
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine
Grove. The Rev. Paul Buzzard will officiate. Interment will be in Jacob's Lutheran
Cemetery, Pine Grove.
