I have also heard that Zerbe was sometimes spelled Servier as well as Zerwe. I did know
something about the family being soldiers for hire. My particular branch came originally
from the Scoharie area of NY and then into Tulpehocken. That's my theory anyway. I
am having an issue linking Esther Zerbe dob 20 November 1814 with her parents. She
married John Forry/Forrer in Tulpehocken Trunity Church in 1832. When my great
grandfather was alive (in Snyder county, Pa), he told me his family was Huguenot and they
had changed the spelling of their surnames several times.
