OBITUARY-MRS. JAS. ZEMAN
Mrs. James Zeman, a well beloved and friendly lady, a resident of this city since her
nine years of age, died at her home in the second ward November 26, at 6:30. Mrs. Zeman
underwent an operation for gallstones about six weeks ago, and never fully recovered from
the shock. Anne Bebl was born in Bohemia in 1858, and came with her parents to Prairie du
Chien when she was nine years of age. She was married in 1877 to James Zeman in this
city, and ten children blessed their union. One died in infancy. Surviving in this city
are the father, Mrs. R. M. Opat, Miss Bessie Zeman, Jakc and Raymond. Jerry lives at
Detroit, Joseph at Lyons, Iowa, Edward at Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Herman Knopps at Milwaukee
and Mrs. John Bohonek at Monana, Ia.
The funeral will be held at the residence at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, in charge of the
C. S. P. S. lodge, of which she was a long time member. The funeral address will be made
by the worthy president, Albert Wachuta, and interment in the Evergreen cemetery attended
by the members and many friends from this locality.
I'm from Prairie du Chien Wisconsin and have significant amount of data on this
family. As of two days ago I started "tried" to assemble in a neat package. Lot
of confusion. I have ALL the data on Anna Stacia (Mrs. R. M Opat) a distant cousin.
Note the obit states "James" not "Frank". Also have a
"John" nicknamed "chick".
Please let me know that you get this message and are interested in sorting out this
family
