My favorite Zellers grandparent would probably be Nancy Reese
Zellers.
Although her husband Melanchton was known to be a drinker and a
harsh
man, she raised 7 wonderful children! One daughter, Katherine
Zeller
Ramseyer, married a famous preacher, and founder of the Missionary
Churches of America. She gave her life for the church and died young
in
1899 at the age of 27. Another daughter, Lillian Zeller, also gave
her
life to God by serving him full-time, even forgoing marriage. She
worked as a teacher with the Christian and Missionary Alliance until
her death at a ripe old age. Her daughter Winifred Zeller O'Brien,
married a Baptist preacher who is still known today in Ashtabula, OH
as
a wonderful caring pillar of the community. Winifred was a
wonderful,.
gentle, loving, and caring mother and grandmother. Her sons Paul
and
John lived in CA, and IN respectively and raised families there.
Charles moved to Toledo with his family. I don't know much about
them. Her son Earl was mentally handicapped but she gave of herself
towards caring for him until her death in 1923 when he was sent to
the
Toledo State Hospital.
Nancy was born June 1845 in Gilboa, Putnam Co, OH to Joseph Reese
and
Polly Young. She married Melanchton Zellers in Dec.1966 and
eventually
settled in Bluffton, Allen Co, OH until about 1903 (I think this is
when he died). She then moved to live with her son Charles in
Toledo
which is where she died April 7, 1923. She was buried in Maple
Grove
cemetery in Bluffton, Allen Co, OH. along with her daughter
Katherine
and son Earl.
Thanks for this opportunity to share about this wonderful genteel
woman.
