I've "rescued" an old photograph of Grant Lincoln ZELLERS which was taken
at
the F. L. Goff Studio in Elkhart, IN sometime in the 1880's. Grant appears
to be in his teens at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to his
name, someone has written the name "Nettie" at the bottom on the back of the
photograph as if this might be the person to whom the photograph belonged at
one time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following
information regarding Grant and his family:
Grant Lincoln ZELLERS was b. 21 Jan 1865 in Lebanon, PA to parents Isaac W.
ZELLERS (b. abt 1839 in Pennsylvania) and Amanda SARGE (b. abt 1842 in
Pennsylvania). When Grant was 7 years old the family moved to Elkhart, IN,
and then at the age of 17 with his Mother he moved to Winston, MO. Grant
worked for the Railroad and evidentially ended up on Goodland, KS. Grant
was married more than once, first to Clara B. JACKSON (b. 16 Mar 1867 in
Illinois) on 14 Nov 1888 in Carrollton, MO; Clara died in 1913 in Goodland,
KS. His second marriage was to Helen Mildred BROWN (b. 13 Jul 1889 in
Circleville, KS to parents Charles Lincoln BROWN and Florence L. BORDNER) on
19 Oct 1921 in Goodland, KS with who he had two children, George W. and Paul
Brown ZELLERS, twins born 29 Aug 1922 in Goodland, KS. Grant died 22 Sept
1922 in Goodland, KS as a result of an apparent suicide by gunshot and is
buried in the Holton Cemetery in Holton, KS.
Grant's obituary lists one brother John ZELLERS of New York, NY; sisters -
Mrs. Clara DEAN of Elkhart, IN; Mrs. Hattie BISHOP of Cassopolis, MI; and
Mrs. Cora WEYRICK of East Akron, OH; a step-brother R. J. KIMBERLING of
Winston, MO; and a half-brother Ralph KEMBERLING (spelled differently here)
of Three Forks, MT in addition to his wife and two infant sons.
Census records provide the following details:
1880 census of Elkhart, IN:
Amanda ZELLERS, age 37, Works in Paper Mill, born PA, parents born PA
Grant ZELLERS, son, age 15, Works in Paper Mill, born PA, parents born PA
John ZELLERS, son, age 7, born IN, parents born PA
1900 census of Wellington, KS:

born PA, a RR Trail Dispatcher
Clara J. ZELLERS, wife, age 33, born Mar 1867, married 10 years, no
children, born IL, parents born Scotland
I am hoping to locate someone from this ZELLERS Family so that the
photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this
family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
