Message Board Post:
Looking for info about Philipp Zeller, born abt 1803 in Germany and emigrated to the U.S.
in 1856.
His given name was Philipp Zoller II; changed name to Zeller when he emigrated to the U.S.
Wife's first name was Catharina (changed to Catharine when they emigrated to the US).
They had several children - Johann (John) Philip, Margareth, Catharine, Luise, Heinrich,
Elisabeth, Maria, and Caroline. Caroline was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin; all of the
other children were born in Hesse Dormstadt (Germany) and emigrated with their parents in
1856.
I've found three family members in Waukesha, WI - wife Catharine, son John Philipp (my
g-g-g-grandfather), and daughter Caroline in Wisconsin. But I haven't been able to
find Philipp himself or any of the other children.
John Philipp was born Johann Philipp; name changed to John when emigrated to U.S. He was
a police officer in Waukesha, WI in the 1870s/1880s. Died 8/9/1933.
Absolutely certain of Philipp's name and family members because we have the German
emigration document that allowed them to come to the U.S. Catherine died 9/4/1903 and is
buried in Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, WI (buried in a plot without a headstone.)
The only reference I've found for Philipp is a reference to Philipp is in
Catharine's obit - just says that he died several years before she did.
Looking for any additional info at all.
1) When was Philipp born?
2) Emigration - Where did they leave from? Where in the U.S. did they arrive? On what ship
did they travel?
3) Who were Philipp's parents?
4) Info about Catharina's parents/siblings?
5) What happened to the other children? Did they die enroute to the U.S.?
6) Anything else???
Thanks for any info at all.
