Hi Debbie
Although my ancestors came from Dorfprozelten in Bavaria, the name underwent
a similar transition. The original folk were Zoeller which progressively
became Zo"ller-Zeller-Sellers-Sellars. Obviously it was progressively
anglicised. I don't know what happened in the US but in Australia a lot of
German names were changed during WW1 for obvious reasons! Sellars sounds
much more English than Zoeller!

Subject: Zeller & village of Griesheim
It has been discovered that one of the family members last name in
German church records was Zollerwith an umlut over the o. Then it was
recorded next to one member in America as Zoeller however in the
directory of Buffalo it was Zeller. Has anyone else seen evidence of
this?
Also does anyone come from the town of Griesheim, Hessen Darmstadt?
Thank you
Debbie
