Hi Jim,
This list is just starting out, but your post is exactly what I am seeking - putting
all our Zeitlers out there! Someone is bound to make a connection. Btw, in my own
records, from the same parish (and probably priest), I have variations of spellings;
Zeitler, Zeidler, Zeiller.
Since your family stems from Bavaria, you might be interested in the Bavarian List,
if you are not already a member. It is pretty active, but I found my researcher there
and I look forward to her reports!

I also have a Resources page on my site, where I have some good Bavarian links.
A quick search brought up your town's website:
http://www.meinestadt.de/Guteneck
The coat of arms for the city :

One of the sites (
http://www.bayern.de/HDBG/gemeind/g376133.htm) mentions Hohenfels -
hmmm, my early Zeitler's parish! I'll have to look up where Guteneck is in
relation
to it.
Nice castle brewery:

Nabburg, Guteneck, and Schwarzenfeld are close together from the Mapquest map I am
looking at. It's not far from Regensburg (37 miles), which leads me to believe your
records would be archived there, as are mine. I found a map with Guteneck (the star)
and Hohenfels on it - not too far (36 miles). I wonder if there is a connection!!

I suspect I would have to trace each child's line to find a connection. It really
seems that Zeitlers within 37 miles would be related. or now, I am just doing the
direct male ancestor. If you could get more info on the parents and such....one of
them may match up with one of my "children" as I am getting all children from
each
ancestor's marriage.
You may wish to consider hiring a researcher for the archival search :)

Subject: Anton Zeitler and Anna Maria Hosl, Guteneck, Bavaria, 1800s
Hi,
I don't have much on the Zeitler branch of my family yet, so am hoping
someone on this list might have a link. Here is what I do know.
Anton Zeitler died between 1889 and 1916. He married Anna Maria Hosl.
Anna Maria Hosl died after 1889.
Anton's father was born between 1815 and 1826. He died in 1915/1916 (he
outlived Anton).
Anton and Anna Maria had two daughters that I know of.
Anna Maria Zeitler (my Great Grandmother) was born on 29 Mar 1867 in
Antelsdorph, Nabburg, Oberpfalz, Bayern. She died 1955 or 1970 in Germany and
was buried in Schwarzenfeld, Bavaria, Germany. Anna was Catholic.
She married Joseph Setzer on 6 Sep 1889 in Unteraich, Nabburg, Bayern.
Margaret Zeitler was born June 12, 1862 in Gutenek, Nabburg, Oberfalz,
Bavaria.
She married Georg Strobl on May 23, 1885 in Trisching, Nabburg, Oberfalz,
Bavaria.
Georg and Margaret moved to Buffalo, New York shortly after their marriage.
My Zeitler's were Catholic and lived in or around Gutenek. They appear to
have some connection to other Zeitler's who moved to Buffalo, New York in the
mid to late 1800s and early 1900s.
