Ingrid,
Several people have asked where in Germany did they originate? I can't say
for sure. Stuttgart & Bavaria, Germany are referred to in some obits and
census documents. I believe they left Germany from Bremen on the ship 'Beta'
about 1852. Stephen's (1820-1882) wife was Anna Margartha Reiss (1822-1877).
At that time they had one son, John Mathues Zeitler. We are trying to locate
the naturalization papers and then perhaps I can get back with more specific
information. Thanks.

Hi Adam,
It's a slow list as I suspect we are all focusing on our own lines! My
Zeitlers disappeared from Enslwang because the town was taken over for a
military training area, so I have no idea where they went, except for one,
and he headed east. The only ones I know are my mother and her parents who
came over here.
Others on this list will have more info on the American side I am sure. It
will also help if you know where in Germany they came from as we are
tracing
our lines there.

one
and see if it works. I am interested in the Zeitlers that came from
Germany
around 1852 and resided in the South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana
area.
