Dear Ruth
If you could obtain the death certificates of your grandparents, then you might find the
ZEIGLER connection. Or at least you would be one generation closer to the answer. Have
you this handy site for locating county & state vital records archives:
http://vitalrec.com/usmap.html
Your grandparents may have been in the workforce of America, as of 1936 or after --- in
which case you could request Form SS-5 from Social Security Administration, and this
application form for SSN would include the "maiden name of mother", written in
handwriting of your grandparent. One web site for SSDI:

My ancestors include one ZEIGLER line. The oldest Zeigler ancestor found yet, was born
1784 in VA and died in Hope, IN. Believed to have belonged to Moravian Church.
If you know the name of the cemetery your grandparents visited, you might locate records
through a Mormons' Family History Center, via microfiche - from Church records, or
from the Genealogical Society nearest the cemetery.
