Douglas Eugene Zeigler
MANSFIELD: Douglas Eugene Zeigler, 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at his
home, losing his longtime battle to multiple sclerosis.
Doug had a passion for life and living, he never complained, instead he had a smile for
everyone as he courageously fought the disease even unto the end.
Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Douglas worked as a tool and die maker at General Motors until his disability forced him
to retire in 1980. With unbelievable fortitude Doug bowled and was an avid golfer until
the disease took even those activities away.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorraine "Rainie" Zeigler,
who cared for him relentlessly until his passing.
Rainie would like to thank her twin sister, Connie Mortimer for going through this journey
with her.
Survivors include his loving son, Kevin (Laurie) Zeigler of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Kellie
Johnson and son-in-law, Chuck Johnson of Florida; grandchildren, Drew (Ashley) Zeigler of
Cincinnati, Chelsea (Tim) Lee of Kentucky, Amber Flannery of Washington, D.C., Coty Moore
of Mansfield, Tyler Kolasky of Pennsylvania, Colton Zeigler of Ontario; loving
daughter-in-law, Sonya Zeigler of Ontario; step grandchildren, Chris (Angel) Richards of
Mansfield and Kyle (Melissa) Richards of Mansfield; five great grandchildren; his
brothers, William (Sandy) Zeigler and Stanley (Becky) Zeigler; and numerous nieces and
nephews whom he cared for very much.
Also surviving are his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kim (Karen) Edwards and family.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Teresa Zeigler and devoted son,
David Eugene Zeigler.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Dr. Rich Rader will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013
at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St.,
Mansfield.
Friends may call prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
A luncheon will follow immediately after the burial at the Life Celebration Reception
Center, 129 S. Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio,
1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, OH 44805.
