I'm stuck again:
My 5x great grandfather Henry Zeigler was born about 1756 (estimate) in America (probably
PA) according to the "Portrait and Biographical Album of Livingston County,
Illinois", Chapman Brothers, 1888, page 1171. Married a Barbara who was born in
Germany.
Confirmed children (listed more in 1790 but no names):
Henry, b.1791 in Dauphin County, PA, m. Sophia Frye, d. 1872 IL
Frederick b. 1801 York county, PA, m. Elizabeth Hoobler, d. 1886 This man was very
instrumental in organizing "a meeting-house for the worship of God, and establish a
graveyard." in Fountain County, IN
Henry and his wife raised 5 children in PA; wife died; he went to IN, then to his sons in
IL. One of the sons, John, married Sarah Dunkelberger in PA; went to IN for 3 years, then
to IL. He and Sarah had 7 children. Henry's line ended up in Algona, Kossuth County,
Iowa.
I'm trying to connect this Henry Zeigler family with a possible brother Daniel b.1784,
m. Juliana Gantz d.1858. Or perhaps the Berks County, PA Zieglers who also set up a
Ziegler meeting-house with graveyard - they stem from Philip b.1734 Switzerland m. Regina
Reguel.
Also have a question: in the 1700's was it common to farm alongside relatives? Henry
farmed in York County PA in 1793 with a John, and again in 1798, and is seen with Jacob
& George as neighbors on Census reports. Siblings?
