Henrietta E. Duncan Zeigler, 89, born November 1, 1920 in Mansfield, Ohio died Sunday,
June 27, 2010 following a brief illness.
Henrietta was Salutatorian of the Mansfield Senior High School Class of 1938 and during
her high school years was captain of the soft ball team. She attended the Chicago College
of Nursing.
During World War II she lived in Texas and California and served as office administrator
for the Under Secretary of Agriculture in his Petaluma California office.
She also was executive secretary to the President of Ideal Electric and to Attorney Rusk.
A member of Grace Episcopal Church, she taught first grade Sunday school and vacation
bible school for over 40 years.
She was a talented flower and vegetable gardener, planting a large garden and canning
hundreds of jars of produce each year. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, and in
later years with her daughter, Angela. A kind and gentle person, she was friend and
confidant to persons of all ages.
Her goal was to be sure everyone was well taken care of.
Henrietta was married on October 13, 1944 to Everett M. Zeigler. They were marred for 58
years and he preceded her in death in 2003.
She is survived by her children, Sharon L. Farrell, (Dan), Fishers, IN, Angela J. Zeigler
(Andy), Columbus, Ohio, and Roger M. Zeigler, Mansfield. Also surviving are grandsons,
Brent G. Farrell (Brandi), and Bradley K. Farrell, Fishers, IN and four
great-grandchildren, Jon D., Faith, Crew, and Layla Farrell.
Her parents, Mary Brannan Duncan and Clyde E. Duncan and brothers, Edward, Eugene, and
Leonard preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Esther Gordon; brother,
Albert Duncan; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Tinkey (Earnest) of Mansfield, Mary Duncan, and
Nancy Duncan. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and special friend,
Karolyn Bisel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Ontario
Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Grace Episcopal Church, 41
Bowman St., Mansfield conducted by Rector Emeritus David Sipes.
Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
