Hi Mike - We must be cousins! I descend from Peter Ziegler also, thru his
son, Jacob,
b. in Durham Twp. Bucks in either 1782. He married Elizabeth Zewitz. And
thru Jacob's daughter, Lydia Ann, b. 1805 in PA.
I can't go back any further than Peter. Can you?
Which child of Peter do you descend from?
Glad to share any information.

Plain digests are sent to subscribers with all posts listed in one long
email. The alternative is MIME digests, which for many subscribers will
appear with each post as an individual attachment, although for others,
there is just one attachment. The default digest delivery is Plain, but if
you want your digest in MIME, please contact me at
ZEIGLER-admin(a)rootsweb.com directly and I'll switch you over.
To reply to a message, quote only that specific message, removing the rest
of the digest from your reply. Also, remember to change the subject of
your reply so that it coincides with the message subject to which you are
replying.

Don't forget to check the S's too.
I have found Zeigler written as
Sigler in lots of records.
My early Zeiglers are from Bucks and Berks County and later Ashland Co.,
Ohio.

Karen ---
Where in Bucks County? I am descended from Peter Ziegler who lived in
Durham
Township, Bucks County. Is this the same line you are descended from?
Peter
was born about 1747 and died in December, 1821. The first record I have of
him in Durham Township is as a free man (unmarried) in 1768. He married
Catharine Barbara Werner around 1776.

To the person who mentioned ZEIGLER/ZIEGLER/etc ancestors in Adams and
Cumberland counties.......
Do you have any idea who the parents were of your David? My Zeiglers
migrated from York>Admas>Cumberland>Perry>Dauphin counties. I can follow
them in census records but cannot find them before York Co.
The main ancestor I am searching for is Martin Zeigler/etc, b. 1779 in PA
so
I know he is not my immigrant ancestor (finding the immigrant is my
goal!!).
I have found nothing that leads me to his parents.......he is not
mentioned
in any wills, etc. that I have researched.
He is "no"t the Martin Zeigler b. 1770, son of George Philip Zeigler of
West
Manchester, York Co. That family line is well documented.
I've been to lots of historical societies in those counties, searched
online, and I am at a loss where to look next. I wonder if his parents
might
have moved to another state but have no idea how to research that.
The earliest record I have of him is in 1807 in Latimore Twp., Adams Co.
He
is listed as a tax payer. The other Zeiglers are John, Leonard, and Widow
Mary. It seems to me they would probably be related, but I haven't been
able
to trace any of them either, not even in census records.
Can you tell me what records you found about your David Zeigler? I might
be
able to locate more info for you if I have more information. I can access
quite a few books online through my library.
Elizabeth
