To the person who mentioned ZEIGLER/ZIEGLER/etc ancestors in Adams and
Cumberland counties.......
Do you have any idea who the parents were of your David? My Zeiglers
migrated from York>Admas>Cumberland>Perry>Dauphin counties. I can follow
them in census records but cannot find them before York Co.
The main ancestor I am searching for is Martin Zeigler/etc, b. 1779 in PA so
I know he is not my immigrant ancestor (finding the immigrant is my goal!!).
I have found nothing that leads me to his parents.......he is not mentioned
in any wills, etc. that I have researched.
He is "no"t the Martin Zeigler b. 1770, son of George Philip Zeigler of West
Manchester, York Co. That family line is well documented.
I've been to lots of historical societies in those counties, searched
online, and I am at a loss where to look next. I wonder if his parents might
have moved to another state but have no idea how to research that.
The earliest record I have of him is in 1807 in Latimore Twp., Adams Co. He
is listed as a tax payer. The other Zeiglers are John, Leonard, and Widow
Mary. It seems to me they would probably be related, but I haven't been able
to trace any of them either, not even in census records.
Can you tell me what records you found about your David Zeigler? I might be
able to locate more info for you if I have more information. I can access
quite a few books online through my library.
Elizabeth
