ASHLAND, Ohio: Raymond Allen Zehner, 87, of Ashland, died Friday, October 8, 2010 at his
residence.
He was born October 23, 1922 in Ashland the son of Benjamin Franklin and Bertha Wertman
Zehner. He was a 1939 graduate of Ashland High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of
World War II. Raymond went on to be a commissioned officer, retiring as a Lt. Colonial
from Grissom Air Base on October 23, 1982. Mr. Zehner was a life member of the Elks, the
American Legion Post 88, the Ashland Co. Pilots Association, The Barnstormin Barnhills
Flying Circus and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Raymond was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement in the
Mediterranean Threatre.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Schwarzwalder Zehner to whom he was married July 3,
1983; his children, Raymond "Allen" Zehner of Keystone Heights, Florida, Gregory
F. (Kandy) Zehner of Xenia, Hulda Rae (Tess) Zehner Riepenhoff of Upper Arlington, and
Nancy Ann Zehner Pfost of Diamond Spring, CA; two stepsons, Jeffrey N. Koons of
Loudonville, and David W. (Beth) Koons of Wadsworth; eight grandchildren, Benjamin F.
(Sara) Zehner, Jonathan A. (Kelle Parham) Zehner, Michael "Eli" Zehner, Mason A.
Zehner, Jaime M. Pfost, Ryan W. Pfost, Andrew "Drew" Pfost and John P.
"Jay" Riepenhoff IV; five step-grandchildren, Keeley S. Koons, Kassidy M. Koons,
Kristofer N. Koons, McKenna N. Koons and Ciera R. Koons; five great grandchildren, Gage T.
Zehner, Emma Zehner, Landon A. Zehner, Holden C. Zehner and Lucas L. Zehner; and two
sisters-in-law, Charlotte Zehner and Mary Zehner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herschel L. Zehner and Cloyd
"Ernie" Zehner; and two sisters, Thelma M. Smalley and Ruth E. Cole.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church
with Pastor Sanford Mitchell officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service
on Saturday.

Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
