LEXINGTON, SC - Clara Elizabeth Wiesner Fleming died Sunday evening, January
6, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home in Lexington, S.C., she was 96. A memorial
service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at
Presbyterian Home. Burial will be a private family graveside service.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Communities of S.C., 700 DaVega Drive,
Lexington, S.C. 29073. DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, DEVINE STREET CHAPEL, is assisting
the family. Mrs. Fleming was born June 8, 1911 in Norfolk, Va. to the late
Henry Wiesner and Clara Zehner Wiesner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arch Charles Fleming, Lt. Col.,
USAF (Ret). She is survived by two daughters, Elsa Claire Fleming of Goose
Creek, S.C. and Carolyn Louise Fleming Hannah and her husband Thomas Edward
Hannah; two grandchildren, Kerin Lee Hannah, and Thomas Edward Hannah, Jr. and his
wife, Paige Hucks Hannah; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Wade Hannah and
Grayson Sullivan Hannah, of Spartanburg; three sisters, Jean W. McCollum and
Beatrice Wiesner, both of McLean, Va. and Ruth W. Roquemore of Marshfield,
Maine. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Richard, Robert and
Albert Wiesner. Mrs. Fleming was a registered nurse, graduating from the Ohio
Valley School of Nursing at the Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling, W.Va.
She served with the American Red Cross prior to marriage. After her
husband's retirement from USAF, the family settled in Columbia and were long time
members of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She served as Elder and held many
church offices. She was made an Honorary Life member of the Women of the
Church. Mrs. Fleming was a member of PEO. Over the years, she was a dedicated
volunteer, serving in many capacities at all military assignments from Alaska to
Germany and New Mexico to New Hampshire. Please sign the online guest book at
