I am seeking descendants of a John ZAJAC (1902-1977), originally from the Pittsburgh, PA
area, later known to have lived in Essington, PA near Philadelphia. His wife, Helen
(1908-1988), whose maiden name was VEXEL, was my maternal cousin.
Helen & John ZAJAC had two children, a son, John (reportedly called "Jackie"
in his youth), and a daughter, Anna Mae. It is my understanding that John's and
Helen's son John/Jackie was a police officer (I believe in Delaware). I do not know
his birth or death dates, or spouse's name, but I have approximated that he and his
sister Anna Mae were born in the late 1920's or early 1930's. Anna Mae ZAJAC at
some point in adulthood suffered from multiple sclerosis (or something similarly named)
and she died quite some time ago, though I don't know when.
My cousin, Helen (VEXEL) ZAJAC, was the daughter of Krzysztaf ["Crist"] VEXEL
and his wife, Marianna (maiden name MAZUREK, b. abt 1885 in Poland). Helen was born 5 May
1908 (I think in the Pittsburgh, PA area); her parents and two brothers, Edward and
Stanley and she moved to the South Bend, Indiana area about 1918. Edward (who had two
surviving daughters) died there in 1953, but his brother Stanley VEXEL is, I believe,
still living. Helen (VEXEL) ZAJAC died about 8 Feb 1988 in Millsboro, Sussex County,
Delaware.
Helen (VEXEL) ZAJAC's mother Marianna's half sister, Zofia (Sophia) BARANOWSKA
(1904-1985), was my maternal grandmother. I have been able to trace Helen's maternal
ancestors to their Polish origins, and will gladly share data.
Thanks!
