It would be most interesting if this book discussed any of the Zahns who wandered east
into Russia. Then, I truly would desire information on this book. It is difficult when
the brickwall is actually the separation from the mother country through another country.

We have just compiled information on our ancestor Jacob Zahn born in Hockenheim in 1854
and immigrated to the U.S. in 1880 with his wife Marie (Rupp) settling in McGregor, Iowa
for most of his life although he and his family were in Canistota, SD from 1901 to 1911
when they returned to McGregor. Jacob, the son of Michael and Katharina (Walter) Zahn, was
in the King's Dragoons Cavalry prior to his immigration to the U.S. Jacob's lines
are to both the Hockenheim Zahns and the Reilingen Zahns.
While in Hockenheim in 1999 we visited with Peter Zahn and were able to purchase a book
from him about the Zahns of Hockenheim and immediate area including Reilingen. Although
there are references to Zahns in the 1500's, the lineage begins in the 1600's with
Johannes Zahn and his wife Catharina Englert.
We woould be interested in sharing information with others who are researching the
Hockenheim area Zahns as well as the allied lines of Rupp, Auer, Eichhorn, Walter, Christ,
Muller and Dorn.
