Thank you for the suggestion. I recieved a transcript of his death certificate.
Fortunately, it listed his parents and you were correct it shows his dad to have been from

My Zahns are all from Wisconsin and Michigan. We are of German-Russian descent,
and my dad was among the last of the family to make it over.
It's possible that Harry could also be of German-Russian descent as many settled
in the prairies... Nebraska, Kansas, the Dakotas, etc.
Have you checked with the courthouses to see what records may be there,
especially birth, marriage or death records. Was his estate probated?
