MANSFIELD: Michael L. Zahn, Sr., age 61, of Mansfield, Ohio (Richland County) passed away
Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Mansfield MedCentral Hospital following a courageous
four-year battle with leukemia.
The son of George and Verna (Cornish) Zahn, Michael was born February 15, 1949 in
Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from Malabar High School. Following high school Michael
served in the Air Force. Working for The Gorman Rupp Company, Michael retired after 41
faithful years.
As a young man, he enjoyed bowling, often competing in area leagues. Fishing a favorite
pastime, Michael liked the peaceful retreat of nature. He followed baseball and loved the
New York Yankees.
Michael attended Calvary Baptist Church in Shelby, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Zahn, of Mansfield, whom he married July 5,
1968; two sons, Scott Zahn and Michael Zahn, Jr. both of Mansfield; grandchildren, Nicole,
Cain, Krista, and Ryan; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Steve Scott of Mansfield;
five sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their families; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews
and extended family.
Along with his parents, Michael was preceded in death by two sisters, Belberta Daily and
Vernia Zahn.
The Zahn family will receive friends Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 2-6 p.m. in the
Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11
a.m. Pastor John Freeman will officiate.
Burial with military honors performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail
will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to American Cancer Society may be made at the funeral home. Private
