Hi all,
I'm new to the list, but have been around for a while.... just turned
another year older last Sunday! ha!
My Zahn family is among those of Volga German heritage... and my father
came from Russia in 1922... they came to Saginaw, Michigan, then
Sheboygan, Wisconsin and back to Saginaw. My brother seems to remember
that my dad would go to Kansas on occasion.
Unfortunately like many of those who immigrated, he wouldn't talk about
his family and the old dialect died with him.
I am Christina (Chris), my father was Christian (Christ) and his father
was Christian. He had several siblings I had always heard the number 9
and his father had 3 wives. Of the siblings his brother, Jake and he
followed in their father's footsteps and were both cabinet makers. They
came from the village of Urbach (now Lipow-Kut), Russia between Samara
and Saratov. It is said that my father attended the university there.
Hope this is a wonderful list.
Chris
