Dear Michelle,
I just checked GRANDMA4 to see what it has on
your family since my Zacharias
database was included in the latest update to GRANDMA.
My great-grandmother was a Zacharias, daughter of an Abram Zacharias and my
grandfather sent his son, my father, a copy of the descendants of Abram
Zacharias from Brazil.
I used this to start my own genealogy database in 1995 and have since added
to this and linked a number of family trees of Zacharias that go back to
Wilhelm Zacharias born in Prussia about 1700.
Unfortunately, for your family, I have Diedrich Zacharias with his first
wife, Maria Heppner, and their children and his second wife, Sara Wall, with
her parents and siblings, but no children. I have no information on who
Diedrich Zacharias' children married or on his grandchildren.
I would much appreciate getting information on the descendants of this
family to add to my Zacharias database. It presently includes Zacharias in
Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., Brazil and a few in the U.S.A.
Since my database was included with GRANDMA4, the simplest way for you to
access what I already have is to get a copy of GRANDMA4 since I have over
6,000 descendants of Wilhelm Zacharias listed.
Zacharias is a common Jewish name. In the 1776 census of Mennonites in
Prussia as found in Horst Penner's book, Die ost- und westpreuszischen
Mennoniten, there are 4 Zachariases listed as heads of households. Our
Wilhelm apparently came from the Danzig area so is not included in this
listing.
The information I have on Zacharias descendants came from family trees
compiled by various Zachariases. I am currently adding sources to my
database to make it more useful for others since it was originally started
strictly as a project for my immediate family.
I hope there is something of interest for you in all this.
