Dear Orin,
Thank you for offering Question #2.
Our Robert Wells (1753) line has the question....How does Jacob (1735)
son of Nathan (1695) son of Thomas, attach his DNA to Robert, Aaron,
Zachariah, Augustine?
He doesn't/can't. Or does/can he? See more on this below.
The DNA for the Thomas/Frances Wells family of Maryland as we believe was
established in phase I of the project is quite different from what we
discovered when he took the DNA test so it would appear someone got a
genealogical wire crossed in his tree. I chose to show Jacob for this
family as a wild shot in the dark for where it might be crossed because
clearly it doesn't seem to be connected to Nathan/Mary Duckett. In short,
the genealogy appears to be defective in this case. We don't yet know what
is correct.
Does Robert' s(1693)son of Thomas ( by will )..... Robert/Ann, son
Robert
(1727 m. Ester) been linked thru the DNA, possibly thru son Andrew?
I know that you stated one person claiming to be related to Andrew went
thru the DNA testing and came up with no match. Have there been any
others claiming to be from Andrew?
Not in the DNA study as yet. I have a couple of Andrew Wells' descendents
on the line but they so far have not been willing to step up and get the
test done. Thanks for reminding me. I may have a carrot I can dangle in
front of one or the other.
Perhaps this is not a question to be put forth to RGen. It is just the
DNA
shows a match of our line to Jacob, but no one else's line attaches
on...or am I not seeing this clearly.
You are right. Relative Genetics can't help us here. All they can do is
reveal the dna pattern. It is then up to the researchers to figure out how
the genealogy connects, with a lot of luck of course. I haven't talked to
the descendent of Jacob for a bit to see how he is doing on trying to
figure out what and where it is twisted. I will have to do that.
But, there is an "oh, by the way" here. ALL of the descendents tested from
the Thomas/Frances Wells family (W006) were through the son Joseph b: 30
Sep 1697 m: Margaret Swanson and then through their son Joseph b: 30 Jul
1729 Maryland m: Charity Carrington. What if one of these Joseph Wells is
the ringer here?
Hmmm. That makes it even more important than ever to find a verifiable
descendent of Robert to test to see if he TOO tests out with your
DNA. What if all of you are descended from Thomas and Frances? Could that be?
