I remembered receiving this message several years ago. I haven't tried
contacting either Sharon or Ardath since discovering Raymond's possible link
to John Boyd Wells. I'm currently still busy with the Aaron Wells Family
Association newsletter but wanted to add John Boyd Wells to Aaron's other
kinsmen in my article. However, this appears to be a very long-term
genealogical project, involving Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky,
Indiana, etc., etc.

Dear Patricia,
My distant cousin, Ardath Blue, sent me a copy of your letters to her
asking
for information about Levi Wells who m. Patience Ridlen. Levi was the
son
of
John Boyd Wells and Margaret (Hawkins) Wells. John B. Wells and
Margaret
had
come, along with some of the Hawkins, from western Pennsylvania to
KY
(briefly, I guess) and then to Ohio. The Wells finally came to Jefferson
Co.,
Indiana. The Hawkins had lived in Harford Co., MD, then Washington
Co. PA
before Ohio. I think that John B. Wells was in Westmoreland Co PA in 1790.
One
of John B. Wells' sons was b. Fayette Co. PA and at least one is
reputed
to
have been b. MD. Son Lemuel (my ancestor) was b. in KY - I don't
know
where.
All this is a roundabout way of saying that your Wells just might be
connected. There were some Wells in Fayette Co. PA, of no known connection
with ours, and at least one of the widows of that family came to the same
area
in Ohio at about the same time that John Boyd Wells family came. I do
not
know
where or when John Boyd Wells was born. I suspect a connection with
the
Fayette Co. family, but do not know enough to make a judgment. I also
suspect
a connection with the Richard Wells family of Harford Co. Maryland -
but
ONLY
suspect. I have no proof whatsoever.
I will look into my files to see if I can find a few facts about the
Fayette
Co. Wells and will copy and e-mail to you. I don't know if this
will help,
but
maybe if you find something solid you can share with us. I have a
busy
work
week ahead. I probably won't get to this until next weekend -
don't
worry - I
won't forget.
Sincerely,
Sharon Seaver
