This is one of the misdirections about Zachariah Wells of this list. As far
as anyone has been about to find he is not the same Zachariah. As it is
fairly well accepted that the Zachariah Wells of this list died in the mid
to late 1820's and is belived to be buried in the area around Big Stone Gap.
The Zachairah Wells of the pension list in TN was the one most tried to use
to join the DAR/SAR, which I understand these organizations have currently
stopped accepting applications based on this info until better proof is
offered as to the connection to him.
The above is based on info garnered from the list and family researchers who
have questioned that connection and unltimitely help fuel the decision by
Orin to volunteer the Wells Family for the special DNA project in progress.
I had included the info for the pension list Zachariah in TN in my family
data, because at the time I started to reesearch the family it was accepted
by many as the correct line of info. However, other more experienced family
researchers advised me that the connection was incorrect. In researching I
have found at least 3 or more Zachariah Wells' roaming the region at about
the same time with younger ones over lapping. I find it interesting that it
seems the name Zachariah was more popularly used by the families of the
southern Wells' and doesn't appear to be used as often by the Wells families
that were established in the northern colonies, i.e.; CT, NY, etc.
