Hello list,
This is most interesting, Dot. The only Andrew I knew of was the one
documented in the Wells Chronicles, vol 3, # 3, p. 266. and he is tied
to Frances and Thomas Wells of Prince George. So, for me, you have found
a gold mine...Does anyone else know of this Andrew and Thomas that Dot
writes about.
From the Chronicles it states:
"Andrew Wells b.16 May 1755 on the Potomack River in Maryland. m.:1)
prior to 1784?, 2)11788-1791 Elizabeth Williams, 3) Eva Houk ?. He died
16 Feb 1834 Sevier County, Tn. Andrew Wells served in the War of the
Revolution, and was captured by the British 09Jun 1780 and transferred to
Mill Prision in England returning into Philadelphia 15 Aug 1782.
According to a pension statement made in 1803 his wife died a few months
after his return."
So he is not connected to us. But, Dot, maybe yours is. I was not aware
of a second Wells family in the Conococheaque Valley. Is any one else
aware of a second family in that valley? .That's exciting ! Thanks for
sharing. Carolann

Patricia,
Here you speak of no connection other than names but I cannot
help to notice the location mentioned in your Rev War pension
file of RW soldier, Andrew Wells, who was born 16 May 1765 in
Conococheague Manor in what is now Washington County, Maryland.
Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files
WELLS, Thomas- PA Line, R11318,Soldier was born in Oct 1751
in Conococheague Valley in MD and he enlisted at Fort Jackson
on Ten Mile Creek in PA and after the Rev War he moved from
Pa to Va, he applied for a pension 8 Jan 1834 in Tyler County,
Virginia.
Best Regards,
Dot

researching his family. There appears to be a set of
tantalizing coincidences possibly linking him to Andrew Wells

County, Tennessee (adjacent to Jefferson County). Andrew

he was born in Conococheague Manor in what is now Washington

a time in Wilkes County, Georgia. His parents were said to
be Robert and Esther Wells. Again, there is no definite
information about them other than names.

We will be keeping you updated on all the significant findings
cerning the newfound kinsmen of Aaron Wells, including
Robert, Zachariah, Augustine and any others, in coming issues
of the newsletter.
