Hi Jemm,
I remember the old ones talking about Johnce when I was a child in the
'50s. My assumption to this point has been that it was GG grandfather
Johnson that they spoke of. I was not aware that Gordon had a brother,
or half brother, named Johnce. I'm assuming your G grandmother was
Harve's second wife, Rebecca Boatright? I knew Gordon's sister, Arminda
(Aunt Mindi Dorton to us) Their farm was across the road from my
grandparents place in the back valley. I know very little about Harve
and your side of the family and would love to here what you can tell me.

Dear Ken: Sorry for delayed response. My grandfather was a different son of Harve Nelson
Wells (a brother to Gordon) named Johnce. My assumption is that Johnce is a variation of
the name of his grandfather, Johnson Wells. Good luck on getting back farther than
Zachariah.

I joined the list a while back and have been slowly working my way
through the archives here, into 1999 so far. The list seems a bit
abandoned, but just in case there are a few researchers watching out
there, I thought I may as well post.
My line is :
1. Zachariah Wells and Abigail Osborne
2. Jeremiah Wells and Elizabeth Culbertson
3. Johnson Wells and Jerusia Elkins
4. Harvey N. Wells and Louisa Ratliff
5. Gordon Wells and Martha (Mattie) Boatright
6. Irvin G. Wells and Margret E. Chandlee
7. Me
Like every one else it seems, I'm looking for exactly who this Zack was,
where he came from, and how he relates to Thomas Wells of Prince George
Co. Md.
