Hi everyone,
I believe I now have all the results linked back over to the family
pages on the website. That is you can click on the Family number or
the Branch number and it will take you to the page where that family
or branch is located in the family pages. You will need ot know what
number you are looking for because I did not put tags in place to
scroll automatically to the position in the table. But since there
are at most 25 Ancestors (families) listed on each page, it shouldn't
be too difficult.
I also have all the links from the family pages back over to the
results pages. So if you find an ancestor listed on a family page
you can click on the right side of the entry where it says "DNA
Results" and it will take you to the results page with the results
for that family. Again, you need to remember what number shows in
this column so you can find it on the results page you are taken to.
Where you do NOT see links to the results pages it means that the
descendent for that family has not been tested yet or has backed out
of the testing for some reason. We may never get that connection
unless someone else from the family comes along.
There ARE errors. I am certain of that. What I need for you all to
do is let me know when you find an error either in detail or a link
or a DNA results marker value.
I also need to go back through and verify every entry in both the
table sets to make sure everything is correct. And we will probably
add some new family entries to identify lower level nodes where there
are not two or more testees shown with the same ancestor. For
example if two people are descended from an ancestor in 1800 and each
was descended from a different son of that ancestor, we would add the
two sons and connect the descendents to the appropriate son. For
this I have to go through all the genealogies and match people up.
We have started integrating test results from FamilyTreeDNA where
several people have gotten tested. For these you will see gaps in
the markers because FamilyTreeDNA tests a slightly different set of
markers. There is enough cross-over between the testing companies
that we can usually match them up. I still have not been able to
contact 19 of the folks from FTDNA to find out who they are. So
their markers are not yet integrated. But I know from their results
which families they are connected to in several cases. If you have
been tested at FamilyTreeDNA and you are not sure I know about this,
please let me know and tell me what your Kit number is at
FTDNA. There are 35 tests included in their Wells project. I can
identify only 11 of them. I have also figured out that there are
additional Wells who have been tested there who did not join the
Wells project so they don't show up. Connecting with them will be a
bit more of a challenge.
The next big project is going to be to finish up the genealogy
cleanup that Bonita has been working on for so long and to provide
the links between the tested results and the actual
genealogies. That will be a while yet. But it will go better if
those of you who have been tested and have not provided your
genealogies will now do so.
How many have been tested so far? There are results for 429 Wells
descendents in the project results pages. There are at least another
24 at FamilyTreeDNA we can not identify. So the number has passed
450 and we have more going through the testing now with still others
at Sorenson (
smgf.org). 500 is not far off. It is like any other
"numbers game". The more we get tested the higher the likelihood we
are going to find some more answers. Maybe I will even find out
where my ancestor came from in England one day.
