Hi John,
Paintsville! Lovely area. I like E KY quite a lot. My m-in-law is from
Corbin.
I'm am just in the process of piecing together all of Zacharia's family -
the problem is that there seems to be quite a few of them in that area in
that era. I found Don Chestnut's web pages from the WELLS site. I'm
staring at all of the children there in wonderment. ;-) I had a Nancy
WELLS who married John O. BOGGS, but had her parents as Nelson Wells and
Elizabeth Osborne. Sadly for me, I didn't note where I got that info from.
I do know that a niece of John O. BOGGS married a son of John and Jemima
(WELLS) STURGILL.
I was just going through some tax lists from the New River area of NC. I
have few families (Boggs, Sturgill) from that area that drifted over into SW
VA and some that went from New River NC > TN > Pulaski Co., KY (Hinds/Hines,
McQueary).
I thought this Zacharia Wells in NC might turn out to be the same one as the
one in Lee/Wise Co., VA. What evidence is there for Fincastle Co.?
Best Regards,

Welcome! There are several researchers on this board researching your
Wells
family. I do not descend from Zachariah, but am working hard to solve the
mystery. How far back can you trace Zachariah? We think we found him in
Fincastle County, VA, in 1771, but that is a far back as we've gone.
