Hello to the list. I am new to the list and would like to ask if any of
you have a
copy of the rev war pension file in of Zachariah Wells in
Sullivan county, Tennesse
While this Zachariah Wells has pretty much been excluded as being related
to the family of Wise/Lee county, we have discussed him a bit.
Here is an extract of his pension record, which is on microfilm by the way.
Pension #S39119 - Virginia
Zachariah Wells, Sullivan Co., TN - 29 Mar 1825. Zachariah Wells age 80
enlisted in the Continental service for two years on 28 July 1776 in the
county of Louden, Virginia in Capt. Henry Lee's Co. Was in the battle fo
Brandywine and Germantown where he was one of Gen. Washington's lifeguards.
Was taken prisoner 12 Dec 1777 at Fox Chase about 15 miles above
Philadelphia. In 1825 he stated his wife was dead and all his children
married. 5 Sept. 1825 he was in Washington Co., Tenn. In 1833 he is of
the County of Whitley in Kentucky.
I do not know if there is additional detail on the family in his file as
this is pretty much all I have. If he was 80 in 1825, then in 1833, the
last notation, he was 88. Comes from a long lived family.
I am sure we would be interested in learning more about this Zachariah.
Possibly you have information that will help us sort out some of the
confusing information on the other.
