Deed Book 2
This indenture made and entered into the 23rd day of September in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five between William Sheppard of the
one part of the county of Lee state of Virginia and William Pennington of the
county and state aforesaid of the other witnesseth that the said William
Sheppard hath this day bargained and sold unto the said William Pennington a
certain tract of land in Lee County on the North Forke of Powells River for
the sum of fifty dollars and bounded as followeth to wit, beginning at a
hickory tree and two dogwoods on the side of a ridge thence 37 (degrees) East
88 poles cross Lunas Creek to a white oak and two spruce pines on a cliff of
the river thence South 20 (degrees) West 160 poles crossing the river to some
sorrells North 70 (degrees) East 130 poles to the beginning containing by
estimation 100 acres be the same more or less to which tract of land the said
Sheppard will warrant and defend free from me, my heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns and free from all persons claiming or to claim
through by or under me him the said Pennington his heirs executors and
assigns in testimony witness whereof I have unto set my hand and affixed my
seal the day and year aforesaid.
