William Wells
Lee Co., VA 1822
This indenture made and concluded on this twenty fifth day of September in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight and twenty two by and between James
King of the county in the State of Virginia of the one part and William Wells
of the county in the State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for
and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Dollars to him the said James King
in hand well and truly paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the
said James King given granted bargained and sold by these do bargain and sell
unto the said William Wells and his heirs one certain tract or parcel of land
containing by survey One hundred acres be the same more or less lying and
being in Lee County on the waters of the south fork of Powels River and
bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at three white oaks corner to Robert
Preston and with a line of his South 64 West 100 poles crossing the
pactitlick ? branch and the river to a white oak and two beach sapplings
South 10 West 20 poles to a maple and beach South 55 degrees East 104 poles
crossing said river to a black oak and two dogwoods North 64 degrees East 107
poles to the belonging with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances
thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining to said land the said James
King for himself and his heirs will warrant and forever defend said land all
and every part or parts thereof unto the said William Wells and his heirs to
have and to hold said land to the only proper use and behoof of him the said
William Wells and his heirs to have and to hold said land free from the just
claim or demand of him the said James King or his heirs in testimony whereof
the said James King hath hereunto set his hand and seal this day and year

At a Court held for the county at the courthouse thereof the 22nd day of
October 1822 this indenture of bargain and sale for land between james King
of the one part and William Wells of the other part admitted to record upon
the acknowledgment of the said James King before Alexander W. Mlls Deputy
Clerk of Lee County the 30th day of September 1822.
