Made the 13th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and ninety nine between S. Donalson of the county of Knox and state
of Tennessee of the one part and the heirs of Jacob Wells dec'd of the other
part of the county of Sullivan and state aforesaid of the other part
witnesses that for in consideration of the sum of one thousand pounds good
and lawful money to the said Stakely Donalson in hand paid by the said Jacob
Wells in his lifetime the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged by the
said Stakely Donalson do bargain sell let over and deliver unto the said
heirs and representatives of the said Jacob Wells dec'd as aforesaid a
certain tract or parcel of land containing one thousand three hundred and
fifty acres by survey bearing date the 16th day of February 1786 laying and
being in the county of Washington Commonwealth of Virginia on the water of
Trading Creek in Powells Valley a north branch of Powells Valley and joining
the lands of Christopher Acklins on the South East side and bounded as
follows to wit: Beginning White Oak and three Poplar saplings corner to said
land and running thence 49 E 351 poles to a white oak N 61 E 590 poles to a
Black Oak N 27 W 357 poles to two poplars corner to said Acklins land and
with a line whereof S 61 W 590 poles to the beginning including the
improvements with the said one thousand three hundred fifteen acres of land
with its appurtenances to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of
land to them the said heirs and representatives of Jacob Wells as aforesaid,
their heirs and assigns forever and do warrant and defend the right and title
of the said land to the said heirs as foresaid against all other lawful claim
whatsoever in witness whereof the said Stokley Donalson have to set my hand
and affixed my seal the day as first above written.
