Dear Wells family researchers,
I have not seen much activity on this list lately, so I thought that I would
chime in. I hope that you will indulge me if I ask a question that is a bit
off the list topic, but I thought that some of you with more knowledge of
Southern heritage than I might be able to help me. My great grandmother,
Charlotte O. ("Lottie") WELLS, had a mother-in-law named Dicie (or Dicy)
WILLIAMS. Dicie lived in Washington County, Tennessee, in the 1870s and
1880s. I am trying to work out this WILLIAMS branch at the moment. I am
curious as to what given name "Dicie" might be a nickname for. I really
don't have a clue and have not found anyone thus far who can enlighten me.
Does anyone know about the origins of the nickname "Dicie"? I will be very
grateful for any information you can provide. Again, I apologize for this
question's being a bit "off-list". Thanks!
