For those who are not involved in the DNA study (yet) and are wondering
what is happening, here is an update.
We still do not have the Phase I analysis. I talked to Dr. Woodward a week
ago and he promised me his assistant would give me an expected date on
which results would be available. The only note I have from her so far is
she is hesitant to give me a date. If I have nothing by Thursday, I will
lean on her boss to get a date which I realize may be missed, but at least
we have something. I also do not want to pressure them into making
mistakes. Normally they only take 4 to 6 weeks to assemble the analysis
information for a group study. Our study includes 120 samples which is
probably among the largest study they have undertaken. This is the 6th
week of their work on the analysis. The bottom line is we do not know yet
if we will have the analysis in July or August. Until we have the phase I
analysis I am not authorizing Relative Genetics to move ahead on the
analysis for the participants in phase II because we would have nothing to
compare against.
We now have 56 participants signed up for phase II for an overall total of
198. Who will be #200? I am sure many others are fence sitting waiting to
see if we get any meaningful results before they spring for the cost of the
testing. Phase I itself has 21 participants who are essentially phase II
samples. This means that when we get the phase I analysis we WILL have
some phase II results to report.
I am as impatient as many of you. We just have to wait a bit longer.
