Dear Zachariah list participants and cousins,
I have really been enjoying the discussion of the past few days and have
picked up some interesting information from your dialog. Thanks to all. I
am afraid that I don't have anything of substance to add at the moment, but I
do want to chime in with my descendency from Zachariah.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was a member of the Blevins list and no one
there had any suggestions. I'll look into James and Hannah. Thanks again.

I noticed on Claude's web site a Joseph Wells listed as a son
of Zachariah & Elizabeth Osborne?
Lets see what sources we can come up with on the CENSUS & Cemetery
records and do some documenting of this family.
Can we find census from 1800-1860??
I found some early tax list on the net today & will send them in
another email to the list.
& again If I got the outline messed up don't shoot me (or hang me)
just send a note to correct it, please. Thanks, I'm just trying
to sort it all out. ANY help treasured.
This is so exciting to pull together all this info and to learn more
about our family history & the different lines. BIG THANKS to the list
for so much info the last few days, this is wonderful.
THANKS for sharing.
Happy trails on your research,

Hello Roger,
What info is on the 1850 census??
If we Est Jemima birth year from the info on the death cert.
1865- age 75=1790?
other info from family histories says she was born
1781 or 1782 on IGI.
What does the 1850 census give for her age? and place of birth &
place of parents birth place?

we need to find the info on the 1800, 1820, 1830, 1840 census?
any of you have any of these census tucked away in your files?
Still looking,
Kim Ralston Dresser
I will go through my records this weekend. I have a copy of this will, but
as I recall, I found the link between this James Osborn and Abigail Osborn
Wells to be tenous at best. I will have to look through my notes for the
reasons other than the obvious -- he never mentions a last name and there
were plenty of men named Osborn who had daughters named Abigail. I'll
check.

Don,
Have you searched out the records on James Blevins and Hannah Lyons?
They had a daughter named Rebecca who married John Kelly. She could have
had other marriages. Rebecca had a sister named Hannah who married Hugh
Boggs son of John O. and Nancy Wells. James lived in VA for awhile and
then moved to Blaine, KY.
Sounds plausible to me.

Hi , As you know Ky. passed a law in 1852 mandating birth ,death & marriage
records be keep. It was repealed at the start of the civil war. This was taken
from thoes records.
Were there mistakes? certainly but sometimes from lack of records a
genealogist has is a propondance of Information.
As for the spelling my GGGrandfather Milton Kennedy was listed in 1850 as
Milton Keneda, in 1860 as Milton Canada to name a few.
As for the county name changes. I know in my research I have seen birth
places follow the county name changes. My McDavid's list Scott Co. Va. as
birth place knowing Scott was not formed at the time of birth but at the time
of the record was made this area was in Scott Co. I have seen this in German
records as well.
These Death records do not list who gave info. but I would think her husband
would have been the informent. He lived a few years longer & was said to have
moved back & forth across the mountains to Va.
What do we base her age on? Was it based on 1850 census?

Do you have information aboaut Rebecca Blevin's parents? I have a lot of
Blevins in my web database, but I haven't found the connection for Rebecca
yet. Thanks,

Regarding the LDS materials. The information listed on the IGI and the
Ancestrial File is information submitted by people like you and me. It may or
may not be documented or proven information. As with ANY information you get,
you should use it only for reference until you get conclusive or documented
evidence. It is just like any other info you would get from anyone else.
However, some of the research was done in the early 1900's on some lines. And
some people may have had some first-hand knowledge. But it should be used as a
clue or reference, just as any other info you come across. Nothing is verified
by the LDS church. But possibly verified by the members who submitted it.
Now there are copies of actual public records that have been microfilmed and
copied and put into the geneological records. These can be rented and viewed
at any LDS Family History Center. I do not know the extent of what is
available, but I believe most all public records (older that is) are
available. (I could be wrong). Census records (original hand-written
microfilmed), some books that have been written. If these records come online,
it would be wonderful!!

Roger,
Yes, please, I would like a copy of the death record. Was this on like a
mortality schedule? Or is it a seperate record? Do you have the mortality
schedules or death records of Letcher county? I would like to see a copy of all
the mortality schedules if you have it. I know for Harlan County it was only for
a few years and was only a few pages. Is that the case for Letcher county?
Please let me know, I would be happy to reimburse you the cost.

Hello Folks!
It was great to see the flurry of info this week on Zach heritages. I
should have posted my own some time ago but failed to do so. Anyway, here
it is now.
1. Zachariah Wells m. Abigail Osborne
2.Thomas Wells m. Rebecca Blevins
3.Wm. T. Wells m. Rebecca Shepherd
4.Ira Wells m. Cassandra Joseph
5. Clem Wells m. Dorcas Williams
6.Ira Wells m. Juda Caudill
7. James M.Wells m. Lenora Whittington
8. Duane M. Wells m. Marjorie Conover
9. James R. (Rick) Wells (me) m. Phyllis Hayes
As you can see, (like some of you), I also have some Caudill's and
Shepherd's in my lineage. I have birth, death or burial records of everyone
listed in lines 5 through 9. I would really like to find the gravesite of
Ira (line 4). I believe he may have spent the last years of his life in
eastern Kentucky -- maybe Harlan Co., Clay Co., or Perry Co.. His son Clem
is buried in Moores Creek, Ky.
Thanks for any help you can give.
