Eleanor,
I discovered this evening that I have a Reinhold Zerrabel who also went by Reinhold
Zerbel. Then I went hunting for Zerbels and found your posting. He would be older than
your Reinhold. He lived in Appleton, WI and is in the City Directories as a patternmkr,
carpenter and contractor from 1887 through 1896. He married Paulina Kotz (my relative) and
lived at 428 North Street. They had kids in Appleton, at least "Martha, Aron, Leo,
Walter and Alto". Right now, that's what I have. Reinhold was in the US before
your ggrandfather emigrated. Now that I have the alternative spelling - Zerbel, maybe I
will find more. I also have it spelled "Zuibel". If they did not want to be
found, why didn't they go for "Smith"? It might have been easier than
guessing all these "Z" variations! Think we have a chance at a connection?
