Good afternoon to all on the list.
I am not sure if I am searching on the correct list, but trying to find GORDON descendents
in WALES.
CHARLES GORDON b. ?1780's married MARY ANN MARTIN b. 1787 Aston Staffordshire,
England
Children:
1. WILLIAM GORDON b. 1823 Chelsea, Middlesex, London
2. MARY ANN GORDON b. 1824 Chelsea, Middlesex, London - Three marriages, out lived all her
husbands, no children
3. JOHN GORDON b. 1827 Chelsea, Middlesex, London (this is my ggGF, migrated to NSW, I
have all his details)
1. - WILLIAM GORDON married EMILY LOUISA BALCOMBE in Middlesex 1854 and had the following
children
William Balcombe Gordon - married HANNAH CURTIS
Mary Francis Gordon - married EDWARD FORD (issues ELIZA and HERBERT CHARLES FORD)
Emily Gordon -
John Gordon - married ALICE HIGGINS
William Balcombe Gordon and Hannah Curtis had 3 daughters:-
1. EDITH EMILY GORDON - married WALTER LLOYD VAUGHAN in Middlesex 1900, his parents
were HENRY (b. Wales) & RACHEL VAUGHAN, siblings, FREDERICK, HUGH, EDITH, MARY,
HERBERT, JOHN and ADELINE VAUGHAN, after Rachel died Henry moved back to WALES and
remarried an Elizabeth.
2. CONSTANCE GORDON - married Arthur QUAIL, their children were ARTHUR GORDON QUAIL and
PATRICK WILLIAM QUAIL.
3. FRANCIS GORDON - married WALTER KENNY. (child, BERNARD GORDON KENNY)
JOHN GORDON (William Balcombe Gordon's brother) married Alice Higgins 1894 and had
children in Middlesex and then I found two births in WALES:
1. John Balcombe Gordon b. 1895 Edmonton, Middlesex
2. Vernon Gordon b. 1912 Swansea, Wales
3. Frederick Charles Gordon b. 1913 Bedwellty, Wales
I am now thinking the Gordon sisters and John and Alice may have moved to Wales early
1900's, they are all living in Middlesex in the 1901 census.
I hope someone may know something of these families ?
Occupations were Clerks in the Tea Trade, Carpenters, Business owners, bookkeepers etc,
John Gordon was a Cashier for Charitable Organisations.
Are there any good sites in Wales I can search for records after 1900's ?
Many thanks
Colleen
