Hello, I am looking for SKS who visits West Glamorgan Archives in Swansea to
do a lookup of Petty sessions for me.
A Licensed Victualler was granted a licence by a Magistrate. I am looking for
a William Smith who held such a licence in 1914. He most probably lived in
Swansea, St Thomas.
His son Frederick Smith is my sister in laws natural Grandfather. We know
very little about him except for the information on his marriage certificate to
her Grandmother Polly Moss. They lived in Inkerman St, Swansea, St Thomas.
My sister in law paid out a lot of money to search for the divorce of
Frederick and Polly but no divorce was found.
We thought if we could find the Licence granted to William Smith it might
help us find more about his son Frederick. Frederick said he was 25 on his
marriage certificate to Polly Moss. They married in 1914. He have his Father's
William Smith's occupation as a licensed victualler.
During WW1 Frederick Smith gave his occupation as Minesweeper Shipper Fuel
Works. In 1914 at his marriage he gave his occupation as an Engineer
Shipper fuel works.
I would be grateful for any help.
Sincerely,
Jacqui White
