Subject: Family History Centre based N Wales
I live in Ruthin, North Wales but have English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish
ancestry
.
For a while now I have wanted to open a (very)small 'drop in' Family
History
Centre which can serve as a focus for people researching their ancestry in
all the countries of the geographical area - British Isles ( with apologies
to Ireland!)
From 5 July I and a friend will be opening a small centre based in Clwyd
Street, Ruthin, Denbighshire North Wales. We will have a stock of
information covering the above areas, this will include census returns,
reference books, maps, archaeology of Ireland and UK ( I'm a Pre-historian
by training). We will provide drinks and comfy chairs and advice. I hope to
run small classes in Family History research and Pre-historic archaeology
of
UK and Ireland)We would appreciate a small donation to help fund the
centre.
We are located very near the Ruthin Records Office not too far away from
the
Clwyd Family History Centre but have a range of materials pertaining to
England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales which compliment that offered on a more
official level
We hope that if anyone is visiting North Wales you will come and see us.
We will be known as Ruthin Family History Centre( we will have a telephone
number in a week or so) but are not limited to this area
We will also offer internet access for Family History Research for a small
donation. If fact we hope to offer a Family History Internet Cafe service
By request we also hope to act as a repository for family records donated
by researchers, to date people are offering us copies of their family
history research to start the collection. If any one is interested in
donating their copies please email us at the address below. Everything will
be fully acknowledged and stored carefuly
ManyThanks to Pat Connors for his advice and help
