Hello Jen,
Did you have any luck with your queries? I haven't seen your photo.
My father also joined up in Swansea, somewhere around late 1916 from his
service number. He joined the 3rd battalion, Welsh Regiment, which was a
recruiting Battalion & spent the first couple of months in Yorkshire.
He went on to serve with 15th Battalion, known as 15th Carmarthenshire, it
was formed in Swansea in 1914 & recruited largely from Carmarthenshire &
parts of Glamorgan. It was part of 38th (Welsh) Division, nicknamed "Lloyd
George's Welsh Army".
Have you looked at
www.1914-1918.net? Also have you tried Andrew Vollans
or
Tom Tulloch-Marshall? They're mines of information.
Good Hunting
H.J.
