This message was sent to the Devonshire list a short time ago, now I
have a bit more information and want to see if anyone on the Swansea
list might have information or connect to this line.
Additional information, marriage cert for Thomas and emily has witnesses
of Elizabeth Ford, a little sleuthing and I found Elizabeth Barnhouse
married John William C. Ford in 1870. Found them in Swansea 1880
census. Another witness was William Evans.
The gist of message I sent to devon list
"I have just sent off for a birth record of Thomas William Willis
BARNHOUSE, as information seemed to point to him as my 3rd great
grandfather, but now I have found additional data that points elsewhere.
Thomas BARNHOUSE (2nd gr.grandfather) was married to Emily SANDY 1884.
Thomas was born according to 1891 census, 1865 in Barnstaple DEVON.
Emily in Swansea. The marriage record does not list a parent of Thomas,
and I have been figuring it was Thomas, found with his grand-mother
Mary Ann Willis in 1881. Now, I have found a marriage record for Thomas
William W. Barnhouse married in 1891 to a Mary Louisa HILL in Newton
Abbot. He and Mary are found in the 1891 census of Devon, Newton Abbot.
Since I find my Thomas in Swansea married to Emily in 1891, he cannot be
Thomas William Willis BARNHOUSE.
The only other Thomas of an appropriaate age in 1881 is at Pontypridd
Road "London House" , Llanwonno, Glamorgan, Wales, his birth place would
not be in agreement with 1891, but I've seen errors often enough to know
this could still be him. He was living with John D. JONES who was a
grocer. In 1871, I find this Thomas as a child of William BARNHOUSE and
Jane JONES. Jane died in 1885 in Swansea.
Does anyone tie to this family that might have more information?
Others names associated with my BARNHOUSE are DAVEY, DAVIES, OSBORNE,
PEERS, BROOKE, DEAN, HUXTABLE, FROST.
I have found information that others in my family tree were also
involved in the grocer business. Please, I hope so much someone
recognizes a name or two here."
