I am new to this and I am looking for a Davis family that came from Swansea
Wales fairly early and went to Inishbofin Ireland. Then settled in Dolan,
Roundstone Galway. The only info on the older family I have is this:
Mark Davis (b. abt 1820's) m. Mary King from Calla Galway.
John Davis (b. abt. 1840's) m. Anne McDonagh of Carna Galway
Patrick Davis (son of John & Anne) b. 1877 in Dolan Roundstone, Galway
Ireland.
I am trying to find out when this Davis family left Wales and who it was
that went to Inishbofin.
Our grandfather is Patrick Davis (b.1877)
Our great grandfather is John Davis
Our great great grandfather is Mark Davis
They were a Catholic family.
Any help out there? Where do I go?
Best Regards,
Jackie D.

Thank you very much for the information I hope it will make searching
the 1851 census easier, though the family may not have stayed in
Swansea.....
Just in case someone recognizes the names, I am looking for ;
James Donaldson Thomas, born 2 Oct 1848 Clifton Swansea
parents: James Donaldson Thomas and Eliza (Taylor) Thomas
probably the couple who were married in Glasgow 26 Sept 1847
(extracted records of Gorbals parish church at
familysearch.org)
this would agree with the 1880 US census entry for James jr, and
information at the San Francisco cemetery where he is buried
I dont know if James sr and Eliza stayed in Britain, or whether they
had any more children etc
thank you again
Judy
