Haven't been able to find a record of her birth, census records indicate
around 1775, but this would have made her quite old having her children. As
she didn't marry until 1819 I would expect her to have been born in the
1790's
I also have an Ann Charles b 1778 ( father I think John) who married William

The plot thickens!!
Do you have any siblings or parents for Alice or her birth year?
I've got a family of Watkins living around Frog Street area in the
centre of Swansea
John b 1791. d1972. Thomas b 1792 d 1850. John b 1794. Mary b 1795.
Margaret b 1796. There may well be other siblings on this family...
Parents were John Watkins b 1762? And Mary Phillips b 1767 also of the
Boar's Head, Frog Street.
Thomas married first of all Margaret Jones married 1812 and second
married Hannah Quinnell
I've no information at all yet on those two ladies and would be
intersted to know if they ring any bells with anyone.
Hannah Quinnell is (we think!) the daughter of Robert Charles a vet -
Quinnell was her first marriage.
I think Mary Phillips was the daughter of a Herbert Phillips - no
further info there either.
Thomas and Margaret were extremely profilic and gave birth to a huge
dynasty of little Watkins - all thirteen of them - a baker's dozen - but
they weren't bakers!
Thomas was beaten into the Watkins record books by his grandson Howell
who sired 15 little Watkins and still found time to be mayor of Swansea
in 1896.
Do you know where in the town Tontine St was or is?

I have an Alice Watkins who married Benjamin Rees in Swansea in 1820.
Ben was a potter and they lived ( when I can find them ) around the
Tontine St area of Swansea. Denise
